The 1912 King George V Official Issue
In 1912 the first set of King George V official stamps were issued. The values issued were 3p, ½a, 1a, 2as, 4as, 6as and 8as. Each value is known in different shades.
The 1914 King George V I.E.F. Issue used in Iraq
Upon the outbreak of World War I and the despatch Indian Expeditionary a set of 13 stamps from the KGV 1911 issue were overprinted with I.E.F. for use of the forces, where stationed. The stamps were used in France (September 1914), East Africa, Mesopotamia, and Turkey. The stamps ceased to be valid for postage on 15 October 1921.
The values issued were 3ps, ½a, 1a, 2as, 2as6ps, 3as, 4as, 8as, 12as and 1r.
