On the 2nd of February 1902 the “¼a on ½as” surcharge was issued due to a shortage of the 3 pies values issued in 1902 and 1904. At the time the Imperial Inland Postage Rate for postcard was ¼a.
The 1909 King Edwards VII Official Issue – The High Value Series
In 1909 four of the five high value KEVII value were issued as service stamps with a similar overprint but with more space between the overprint. The values issued were 2rs, 3rs, 5rs and 10rs which 2 shades existing for the 2rs and 10rs values.

The 1911-1922 King George V Issue
With the death of King Edward VII on 6 May 1910 and the crowning of King George V a new set of definitive stamps was issued with the first stamps being released on 1 December 1911 depicting the new monarch. A total of 16 values were issued being 3 pies, ½a, 1a, 1½as, 2as, 2as 6 pies, 3as, 4as, 6as, 8as, 12as, 1 rupee, 2 rupees, 5 rupees, 10 rupees, 15 rupees and 25 rupees. The values were issued in sixteen different colors and different shades thereof.
Almost all of the stamps exist with inverted watermark.

In 1921 the “NINE PIES on 1a” King George V Surcharge was issued as a service stamp. The stamp was issued in response to the new Imperial Inland postage rate of 9 pies which covered the rate for a letter weighing up to 1 tola.

The 1921 “NINE PIES on 1a” King George V Surcharge
On the 10th of June 1921 a NINE PIES surcharge done on the 1a 1911-1922 KGV value was issued. The stamp was issued in response to the new Imperial Inland postage rate of 9 pies which covered the rate for a letter weighing up to 1 tola. The stamp is found on paper with inverted watermark.
The last 9 pies stamp to be issued was part of the 1882-1890 Queen Victoria issue.
