The 1931 Inauguration of New Delhi issue In 1931 India issued its first commemorative set of stamps on the occasion of the Inauguration of New Delhi. In total six stamps were issued with the values of ¼a, ½a, 1a, 2as, 3as and 1 rupee. While the normal watermark shows the stars pointing to the right when seen from the back of the stamp, all the values have also been recorded with the stars pointing left.
